Hi guys... Just found this forum, thought I'd share my 1958 Ragtop Bug. It's a rough project that I drug off of a farm in "The Middle of Nowhere" Missouri about 2 years ago or so. Wish I could call it a barn find but it was next to the barn not in it. I originally bought it to cut it up into a Volksrod but have since had a change of heart seeing as how unique 58/59 Bugs are. Franky, as he's affectionately called was missing some original stuff when I got him but I've been collecting and researching. Appears to be an original L245 Light Bronze car from the OG paint under-hood. Neat color. Anyway, here it is in all it's rusted glory...waiting the resto.

Hey welcome, glad you found us. I blew up your pic, of the front fender well. I am actually thinking that it may be Diamond grey, and not Light Bronze. Since you have decided to restore it, have you thought about getting a birth certificate?

I have thought about getting a birth cert but to be honest with you, I'm not really sure how to go about that. I'll post up a few more O.E. paint pics to see if they reveal more.

It's always a pain in the ass to tell those two colors apart, especially after 50 years of fading, etc. It is possible that it's L245, looking at the other pics, but I can't tell for sure to be honest.

In a way it looks like l245. But I'm not sure, if it is I'm always excited to see another light bronze.
