I take the good and the bad with my VW and that's just how it is. But I happened to be in the middle of nowhere and now I have to work on my VW, which I was hoping not do to since my livelihood depends on my hands (I am a musician). In any case, my bug has been sitting in the garage since it's been raining and I don't have windshield wipers. I can install wipers no problem, BUT my bug doesn't even have the components of the windshield wiper system, SO my question to you is what do I need to do the job myself?
My VW: 1959 but it has been converted to 12v with a 1500cc engine.
Another issue is that my license plate light doesn't come on. I've replaced the bulb and the fuses are all good, BUT the last time I took him to the doctor, they told me that there wasn't enough current going to the wire that goes to the bulb. Any suggestions?
Unfortunately, this mechanic doesn't respond promptly and this job was supposed to be done 3 weeks ago. Frankly, I don't care to wait for somebody while my perfectly running car is just sitting there. And since I've already heard every excuse in the book why they can't work on my vehicle, I'm pretty much done with that shop.
I'm sure it isn't something too complicated, but I don't want to buy/look for the wrong parts etc..etc..
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That is the easiest way I have found once a car has been switched over to 12v.

That's what I did on my 61. I picked up a 67 two speed wiper switch, and motor. I took my original 61 linkage, and mounted the 67 motor. Doing it that way in my opinion is way better than using a voltage drop and 6 volt components.
