Im trying to install a crest on the hood and would like to know the correct placement in relation to the handle. Does anyone know correct length of the chrome strip? I bought a aftermarket chrome piece and crest but the chrome doesn't have a notch so it fits over the crest. Also my hood doesn't have slots so crest prongs will poke through and fold under the hood to hold it on. I guess I will have to drill two small holes for the tabs to fold through. This is a picture I found of a correct hood crest fitting under the chrome. Any input or pictures of your crest would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you have a later hood on your car, and you may have bought a later chrome strip as well. The chrome strip for a 52-63 bug is 37 inches long. The later one will be longer because it wont have the hood crest. WW has the correct chrome strip on their site for pretty cheap. It will also have the notch so it can slide over the top of the crest. www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/DetailsList.cfm?ID=113853505CThe measurement from the bottom of the crest to the top of the handle is 3/4 of an inch. Also, the holes in the hood are actually slots, and not holes. To look factory you may have to make some tiny pilot holes, and file it into a slot. It actually might be kind of a pain to duplicate. Here are a couple of pics of mine for reference. Oh ya, and dont forget to put these under your crest. www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/DetailsList.cfm?ID=113853611

Wow, your right, it really brings that dash out. I agree you should move the stereo into the glove box. I know there is a company out there that makes a plastic glove box that can house the stereo, and yet still leave a little room to store stuff. Oh, and I wont give you any crap, I a big Police fan, and Sting's solo stuff ain't that bad either. ;D
